Solo Exhibition Gary Give me

LURF GALLERY, 2F, is pleased to present "Gary Give me," a solo exhibition by Makoto Honda.

In Honda's work, fragments of sudden emotional swings and memories quietly appear as motifs and signs. It is tempting to find some kind of narrative in them, but there is no clear plot. The viewer is expected to perceive the work in his or her own context, overlapping the images that emerge from Honda's memories and senses with his or her own memories and senses.

For this exhibition, Honda has kept verbal explanations to a minimum, presenting only the inverted triangular shape of the word "ABRACADABRA" as a statement, in which the letters disappear one by one. The shape of the letters disappearing one by one overlaps with the sensation of letting go of meaning and explanation and turning the viewer's gaze to the picture itself.

When you stand in front of a work of art, there is no single answer. We hope that you will view the works as you feel them while facing them.
