LURF GALLERY is pleased to announce the holding of "ON THE TABLE," an exhibition chronicling the publication of Taro Gomi's picture books.
Taro Gomi, one of Japan's leading picture book authors, has been creating books energetically for over 50 years since his debut with "Michi" (Fukuinkan Shoten) in 1973, and has produced over 400 picture books to date. If we include those translated and published in over 30 countries around the world, the number is more than double that.
This exhibition brings together all of the picture books that Gomi Taro has worked on over the past 52 years, from 1973 to 2025. It is truly an exhibition of "books," where you can trace the trajectory of his creative work chronologically.
The exhibition will feature picture books lined up on tables, emphasizing the inherent charm of picture books: the experience of picking them up and reading them. Visitors will be able to freely pick up books, turn the pages, and fully immerse themselves in the world of Gomi Taro.
It doesn't just remain on the page; the exhibition itself is composed as a spatial work by Gomi Taro.
By purchasing and presenting an admission badge, you can re-enter the venue as many times as you like during the exhibition. Please take your time to experience Taro Gomi's 52-year journey of thought and creativity at the venue.
Additionally, a book produced in conjunction with the exhibition, "Gomi Taro Picture Book Chronicle 1973-2025 Complete Edition" (Anonyma Studio), will be available for purchase at the venue. This book, which presents all of Gomi Taro's works in chronological order, will allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the world of picture books.
In addition to the picture book exhibition, there will also be an exhibition of paintings and giclee works. In addition, original products by LURF GALLERY will be on sale. Please enjoy the charm of Gomi's work, which is expressed in a way that is different from the picture book.
The exhibition will run from Friday, December 12, 2025 to Sunday, February 15, 2026.
*Due to popular demand, the exhibition period has been extended (previous period: until Monday, February 2nd)
