LURF GALLERY is pleased to announce the holding of Tanizaki Isshin's solo exhibition "FEEL."
Tanizaki has previously produced abstract paintings that explore the origins of the world and life through vortices, but these origins lie in his landscape paintings. In this exhibition, the two approaches of landscape and vortex intersect, creating a new world of painting that moves back and forth between abstraction and figuration.
Tanizaki's paintings create a variety of colors and shapes through the repetition of swirls in order to express the world in which we live. We become aware of these phenomena and try to understand the world by attributing meaning, intention, and value to them. However, the swirls themselves, which are components of the paintings, have no meaning or intention and simply exist. The world is inherently meaningless, it just exists. It is none other than our consciousness that gives it color and value. The same can be said for natural landscapes.
Tanizaki questions the relationship between existence as it is and human consciousness, and depicts the importance of pursuing the essence of things through vortices and wavelengths.
The exhibition will run from Friday, November 7th to Sunday, December 7th, 2025.

Profile
Isshin TANISAKI
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1974
Tanizaki Isshin's work is based on the theme of "energy and circulation of life," and he expresses the energy of life by creating swirls that combine colors and textures as symbols of the movement of energy.
Since the early 2000s, Tanizaki has been creating natural landscapes made up of accumulations of tiny dots, the origin of whirlpools. Positioning whirlpools as the root of all things, and by expressing a world of whirlpools in a minimalist way, he is examining the origins of our lives, the everyday world, and the universe, which arise from the movement of energy.
