PROFILE

Isshin Tanisaki

Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1974
Isshin Tanizaki, taking “the energy and cycle of life” as his theme, depicts swirls that combine color and texture as symbols of the movement of energy, thereby expressing the energy of life.
Since the early 2000s, Tanizaki has been presenting natural landscapes created through the accumulation of minute dots—the very origin of the vortex. By positioning the vortex as the source that embodies all things in the universe and expressing the world through vortices in a minimalist style, he explores our own lives—which arise from the movement of energy—as well as the nature of the everyday world and the universe.
