Solo Exhibition CHROMATIC SILHOUETTES
LURF GALLERY is pleased to present "CHROMATIC SILHOUETTES," a solo exhibition by KAZUSA MATSUYAMA.
KAZUSA MATSUYAMA has long worked with motifs drawn from figures and scenes of everyday life, evoking in viewers a wide range of meanings and narratives.
In this exhibition—her second solo show at our venue—the contours of the human figure are further abstracted, opening new points of connection with the viewer's own memories and experiences.
We hope you will take this opportunity to encounter MATSUYAMA's latest body of work.

STATEMENT
CHROMATIC SILHOUETTES
KAZUSA MATSUYAMA has continuously explored the relationship between artwork and viewer through the depiction of human figures.
The figures that appear in the paintings evoke specific individuals, while at the same time existing as anonymous presences.
In this exhibition, the outlines of the figures become further abstracted, emerging as silhouettes or traces within layered colors.
The people in our memories gradually lose their clear contours over time, leaving behind only fragments of experiences and emotions, like colors lingering in the mind.
These ambiguous afterimages sometimes appear as silhouettes, overlapping with each viewer’ s own memories and giving rise to new images.
They are at once the presence of someone else, and fragments of the impressions that remain within ourselves.
Through this exhibition, as we trace the presence of human figures emerging through color and silhouette, we hope that each viewer’ s own memories and sensations will be gently awakened.
